In the first match of the new season, played as part of Round 2 of the BiH Premier League, the handball players of Bosna Visoko Ekoenergija secured a 39:34 victory over Goražde.
At this point, the most important thing is that we secured the two points and took the pressure off the team's shoulders, especially considering we started last season with a draw. All in all, it was a very strong offensive performance by our team, but defensively we definitely need to be better, more aggressive, and more reliable.
However, when you claim two points, everything becomes easier. Analyzing the game will be easier, and making improvements is certainly smoother when there is less pressure.
The visitors held a one-goal lead at the very start, but after they went ahead 4:3, our team took the lead thanks to two consecutive goals from Urta. Pandžić extended our run to make it 6:4 in the 11th minute.
The guests managed to equalize once again, but Bosna restored a two-goal lead in the 18th minute with a fast-break goal from Vražalić (10:8). In the 21st minute, we extended our lead to three points following a brilliant spin move by Marko Pandžić, who scored for 13:10. Urta's goal in the 25th minute put us up by four (15:11), and we went into the halftime break leading 19:16.
We started the second half brilliantly, extending the lead to five goals (21:16) through goals from Pandžić and Keso. However, the visitors did not give up and closed the gap to two goals in the 39th minute, with Bosna holding a 25:23 lead.
Our players repelled that surge from the visitors, pushing the gap back out to four goals. It seemed like we were going to seal the game, but the resilient guests refused to back down, scoring into an empty net to cut the deficit to two goals once again in the 44th minute (27:29).
Nevertheless, we successfully controlled that comeback attempt as well. In the 49th minute, Keso scored a fantastic grounded shot to make it a five-goal cushion at 32:27. In the 54th minute, Vražalić scored for our largest lead of the game at six goals (36:30), and the same player put the game beyond doubt a minute later with a goal for 37:30. Until the end of the match, we managed to preserve our lead and seal our first win of the season.
Marko Pandžić was the top scorer for our team with 14 goals, while Faruk Vražalić added seven, and Berin Keso scored six. Borislav Urta scored four goals, while Nikola Stamenković added three. Enes Skopljak and Adnan Jamaković scored two goals each, with Ermin Ombaša adding one. Goalkeeper Mirnes Grčo recorded nine saves, while Faris Žiga added one.
For the visiting team, Vanja Mirković was the top scorer with 14 goals, while goalkeeper Aleksandar Gašić recorded 10 saves.
There is no time to rest for our team, as they travel to Mostar already on Wednesday to face Zrinjski in Round 3.
